12th August saw another key milestone in Schumann Consult‘s growth plan when Stephen Walton joined us in the role of Project Director. This high profile appointment supports our commitment to #supportingdesigners with Specifications through the acquisition of another very high quality, well respected consultant in the specification field.
Stephen (Steve) joins SCL having resigned his position of Associate with AECOM – Davis Langdon following 11 years with the specification consultancy business unit based in Central London. Steve has taken on the role of Project Director, meaning that he will be taking responsibility of both Clients and Projects, whilst also being a leading figure in ensuring that our specifications remain technically accurate and respond to the market and trends.
Steve has hit the ground running and is currently underway on projects in the UK, Russia, Qatar and the Oman.
Steve joined Davis Langdon Schumann Smith in 2002 following a 25 year career with main contractors specialising in refurbishment, new build and interiors.
In 2007, Steve left the UK to take up an opportunity of heading up the specification consultancy based in Dublin. During his tenure in ROI, he worked on the Dublin Central Criminal Courts Building, the proposed new Thornton Hall Prison and a number of commercial and healthcare sector projects principally with Scott Tallon Walker.
A large portion of Steve’s focus before arriving in Dublin was his work with Allies and Morrison on the Grade II listed Royal Festival Hall refurbishment in between 2004-2007. Upon returning from Dublin in 2009, Steve worked extensively and exclusively with Foster + Partners on a number of major UK, M+E and US projects.
Steve’s extra-curricular interests include his lifelong (and some would argue quixotic) belief that Tottenham Hotspur will one day lift the Premiership and Champions’ League trophies, a passion for the music of George Benson and his love of visiting the US.
Steve is motivated by the involvement in the extraordinary designs our clients routinely deliver, the engagement with client teams and availing the highest levels of client care possible.
We are delighted that Steve has decided to join us, not just because of his obvious expertise, but also so that we can take the opportunity to talk in depth about Jelavic scoring the last minute winner for Everton last season against his precious Tottenham Hotspur side.
Continuing to grow
As we continue to grow we are already on the verge of appointing our third full-time member of staff and we continue to be on the look out for anyone interested in a career supporting designers with Specifications and Design Management. Please feel free to drop us a line anytime for a chat.
